CAMILLE RELEASES TRIPLE ALBUM DOCUMENTING 15 YEARS OF MOTHERHOOD

WED 24 JUN 2026 MUSIC

French musician Camille has released The Sound of Milk, a triple album spanning 15 years and documenting distinct stages of raising her two children with composer Clément Ducol. The three records—Naissance, Enfance and Adolescence—were completed in 2015, 2020 and 2025 respectively, but Camille delayed their simultaneous release until her now-teenage son and daughter were older. She stated that releasing the work earlier would have felt exposing, as the material addresses deeply personal themes of beauty, joy and motherhood.

Naissance, the first record, contains no conventional instruments and functions as a field recording of early childcare, incorporating vocal experimentation including beatboxing and raspberry sounds. Enfance, the second instalment, Camille describes as a "pocket musical" featuring atmospheric compositions and everyday parental expressions elevated to art form. The third part, Adolescence, completes the arc of her children's development from infancy onwards. Camille has won previous acclaim for her body-tapping and vocal experimentation work across five earlier albums.

Camille stated that she needed sufficient time and emotional distance to release the work responsibly. She described her approach to music as inseparable from lived experience, involving breathing and singing alongside her children in an open creative world. The album represents her sixth studio record and marks her most ambitious project to date, treating family life itself as artistic material.
