MILWAUKEE BUCKS TRADE GIANNIS ANTETOKOUNMPO TO MIAMI HEAT

TUE 23 JUN 2026 US SPORTS

The Milwaukee Bucks reached an agreement late on Monday to trade Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis to the Miami Heat in exchange for Tyler Herro, centre Kel'el Ware, forward Jaime Jaquez Jr., second-year guard Kasparas Jakučionis, three first-round draft picks including the No. 13 selection in the 2026 NBA Draft, one 2030 pick swap and a 2033 second-round selection. The trade concluded weeks of speculation regarding Antetokounmpo's future with Milwaukee. Multiple sportsbooks immediately adjusted their championship odds following the deal's announcement.

Miami's odds to win the 2026-27 NBA championship shifted from 30-1 to 18-1 at multiple sportsbooks, positioning the Heat as fifth-favourites behind San Antonio and Oklahoma City, Boston and the New York Knicks. The Heat moved to third-best odds at +650 to win the Eastern Conference, behind Boston at +240 and the Knicks at +275. Halvor Egeland, BetMGM risk manager, stated that Miami would require additional roster moves to address spacing concerns with Bam Adebayo and Antetokounmpo. Thomas Gable, sportsbook director at The Borgata in New Jersey, characterised the trade as favourable to both franchises, noting the Heat possessed a strong starting five whilst the Bucks received substantial draft capital.

Antetokounmpo's individual championship odds for the 2026-27 season tied him with Anthony Edwards at 14-1, the fifth-best odds to win NBA MVP. Boston's title odds moved marginally from +550 to +650 following their failed attempt to acquire Antetokounmpo, according to sportsbook assessments.
