OHTANI LEADS ALL-STAR VOTING; CLEMENT TOPS AMERICAN LEAGUE
Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Dodgers holds the most fan votes in phase one of the 2026 MLB All-Star Game ballot with 2,310,735 votes as of Monday's update. Ernie Clement of the Toronto Blue Jays leads voting in the American League with 2,054,130 votes. The second ballot update was released Monday, with phase one of fan voting concluding at noon Eastern Time on Thursday.
Ohtani is in contention for an individual All-Star starting berth for the first time in his career, despite already winning four league MVP awards. His statistical performance this season includes a .418 on-base percentage (third in MLB), a .969 OPS (sixth), and a 1.47 ERA on the mound (lowest of his major-league career). Clement, who recorded the most hits ever in an MLB postseason last year, is on track to reach his first All-Star Game appearance in his sixth major-league season, with a .292 batting average, seven home runs and 28 RBIs. He is tied for the AL lead with 20 doubles.
The All-Star Game will be held on 14 July at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia. The top overall vote-getter in each league after phase one automatically earns a starting spot. Phase two of voting will commence on 29 June, at which point the ballot will narrow to the top two vote-getters at each position and the top six outfielders. Pitchers and backup position players are selected through player ballots and the commissioner's office rather than fan voting.
