RANSOM NOTE CLAIMS APOLOGY FOR NANCY GUTHRIE'S DEATH

MON 22 JUN 2026

Nancy Guthrie, the mother of NBC presenter Savannah Guthrie, went missing from her home on 1 February, and her whereabouts remain unknown. According to a new investigation, ransom notes sent by those claiming to hold her included an apology for her death. A second note, sent on 6 February, allegedly offered to deliver her body in exchange for $4 million, according to a source familiar with the investigation.

The first ransom note, received by media outlets and forwarded to the Pima County Sheriff, demanded $4 million in bitcoin by 5 February, with the sum rising to $6 million thereafter. According to a report, investigators found the message credible, citing accurate details including a description of Nancy Guthrie's clothing and a broken light at her home. In an attempt to track the money, investigators sent $152 rather than the requested amount. The bitcoin account remained untouched, according to claims made in the investigation.

The Pima County Sheriff's Department did not provide comment when contacted. The case remains ongoing, with Nancy Guthrie's current location and circumstances unknown. No arrests have been reported in connection with the case as of the publication of these accounts.
