VOUCHER FIRM APOLOGISES FOR PROMOTION MOCKING ZOO CROCODILE ATTACK
A voucher firm issued an apology after publishing a promotional message that referenced the crocodile attack on a three-year-old boy at Johnsons of Hurst zoo near Huntingdon. The child sustained serious injuries in the crocodile enclosure last Thursday and remains in a critical but stable condition at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge, according to reports. The promotion drew criticism for its timing and content in relation to the incident.
Police arrested a 30-year-old man from Norfolk on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with the attack. The man was bailed after being assessed as unfit for interview, and is believed to have learning difficulties. He was visiting the zoo with carers at the time and is not thought to have known the child.
Zoo staff removed the child from the enclosure and provided initial medical treatment before he was transported to hospital. Police inquiries remain ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the incident. Specialist officers are supporting the boy and his family throughout the investigation.
