RIK ROK'S HALF-SISTER ORDERED TO PAY £126K AFTER LOSING WILL DISPUTE

MON 22 JUN 2026

Sarah Ducent lost a court claim to inherit a share of her father's £1 million estate and was ordered to pay £126,000 in legal costs. Central London County Court heard the dispute over assets left by Herbert Ducent, who died in 2007 aged 63. Herbert's will named his widow Dorothy Ducent as his main heir, excluding Sarah. The court upheld Dorothy's inheritance, rejecting Sarah's bid for a share of the estate.

Herbert Ducent was a businessman who owned a construction company in Jamaica and ran a bakery in Brixton, south London. His English estate comprised two neighbouring properties in Peak Hill, Sydenham, valued at approximately £900,000. Sarah claimed Herbert owned significant real estate in Jamaica, though those assets have not yet been quantified in British courts. Rickardo "Rik Rok" Ducent, Sarah's half-brother and co-writer of Shaggy's 2001 number one hit "It Wasn't Me", gave evidence in court supporting his mother Dorothy's defence against Sarah's claim. Herbert had become estranged from Sarah before his death, according to Rik Rok's testimony.

The ruling concluded the family dispute that turned on the terms of Herbert's will, drawn up in Jamaica. Sarah's legal challenge to the inheritance distribution has now been rejected by the court. The £126,000 costs order reflects the full extent of the legal proceedings Sarah must now fund.
