MOLLY-MAE HAGUE NAMES SON AFTER ROBOT BOXER FILM

Molly-Mae Hague has revealed the origin of her newborn son's name in a YouTube video released after the birth of her second child with boxer Tommy Fury. The influencer explained that she named her boy Midas Thomas Fury after a robot character in the 2011 film Real Steel, which stars Hugh Jackman. Hague said she had encountered the name years earlier whilst watching the science fiction film about boxing robots and found it striking. She subsequently discussed the name with Fury, who responded positively to the choice.

Some social media users had initially speculated that Hague had drawn inspiration from Greek mythology, specifically King Midas, the ruler of Phrygia granted the wish to turn everything he touched to gold. Hague acknowledged these comments in her 29-minute vlog, noting that viewers had suggested the mythological reference was unwise given that the tale functions as a cautionary warning against greed. Real Steel, the film from which Hague took the name, centres on a boxer whose circumstances improve when he and his son construct a robot fighter. The film also features cast member Hugh Jackman.

Hague and Fury, both 27, welcomed their second child earlier this month. The couple previously had a daughter together. Hague's return to YouTube with the announcement marked her first content posted on the platform since the birth.
