DOKU PLANS TO LEAVE BELGIUM CAMP FOR CHILD'S BIRTH

Winger Jeremy Doku has stated he intends to leave Belgium's World Cup camp to be present when his wife gives birth to their first child. Doku made the statement during Belgium's tournament preparations. The decision has drawn criticism from unnamed sources, according to reports.

Belgium is participating in the World Cup, a quadrennial international football tournament. Doku's announcement came whilst the squad was based at their World Cup camp. The timing of the expected birth coincides with Belgium's continued participation in the competition, creating a conflict between his international football commitments and his family circumstances.

The situation raises questions about player availability during major tournaments and the balance between professional obligations and personal circumstances. Doku's stated intention represents a departure from conventional practice in professional football, where players typically remain with their squads throughout tournament competitions. No statement has been issued regarding whether Belgium's management will grant Doku permission to leave the camp or how the matter will be resolved.
