MURDER INVESTIGATION BEGINS AFTER BOY STABBED IN BATTERSEA
A murder investigation has begun following the death of a 17-year-old boy who was stabbed in Battersea, south London, in the early hours. Police officers, paramedics and the London Air Ambulance attended reports of a stabbing near Lavender Hill on Glycena Road at approximately 04:20 BST. The boy was found injured and received medical treatment at the scene, but died there. His next of kin has been informed by the Metropolitan Police. No arrests have been made as of the time of reporting.
A large crime scene has been established with several surrounding roads closed off. Detective Chief Inspector Brian Howie of the Metropolitan Police stated that inquiries are progressing intensively. He appealed for witnesses who saw a group of males running in the area between 04:00 and 05:00 BST, specifically on Glycena Road, Acanthus Road or Pountney Road. Howie said that CCTV footage, doorbell recordings or mobile phone video may provide vital evidence to the investigation. A continued and highly visible police presence remains in the area.
The Metropolitan Police have urged members of the public to come forward with any information, however minor it may seem. Howie stressed that members of the public should not assume their information has already been shared with officers. He encouraged anyone with concerns to approach police officers at the scene.
