TAY KEITH, GRAMMY-NOMINATED PRODUCER, FOUND DEAD IN NASHVILLE
Tay Keith, a Grammy-nominated music producer who worked with Drake, Travis Scott, Eminem and Beyoncé, has been found dead in his Nashville apartment. Nashville police discovered the 29-year-old following a welfare check. According to police, no foul play is suspected in his death. An autopsy is being conducted, and a cause of death has not yet been released.
Keith, whose real name was Brytavious Chambers, earned his first Grammy Award nomination in 2019 for co-producing Travis Scott's track Sicko Mode. He received a second nomination in 2024 in the best rap song category for his work on Drake and 21 Savage's Rich Flex. Born in Memphis, Keith also produced tracks for Lil Baby, 21 Savage, J Cole, Beyoncé, Lil Nas X, Cardi B and DJ Khaled. He was featured on Forbes' 30 Under 30 Music list last year. Memphis rapper BlocBoy JB, who had known Keith since age 14, posted on Instagram following his death, sharing a phone log showing the two spoke frequently.
Keith studied integrated studies and media management at Middle Tennessee State University, completing his degree whilst building his music production career. In a 2020 interview with the university magazine, he stated that finishing his degree was important despite his early professional success. By his final week of college, he had already produced a number-one single.
