MIKE MYERS CONFIRMS FOURTH AUSTIN POWERS FILM IN DEVELOPMENT
Mike Myers has confirmed that a fourth Austin Powers film is in development. The actor made the announcement during an appearance on Trevor Noah's World Cup Watch Party YouTube series on Wednesday, responding with a definitive "yes" when asked by a fan whether another instalment would be made. Myers provided no further details about the project's timeline or production status.
Myers has starred as secret agent Austin Powers in the franchise's first three films: Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery (1997), Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me (1999) and Austin Powers in Goldmember (2002). He has previously expressed interest in centring a future film more heavily on Dr. Evil, the franchise's main antagonist, also played by Myers. In a 2022 interview, Myers stated he would like to make another film but stopped short of confirming plans, later describing his response as "a non-confirmed confirmation confirmation."
Director Jay Roach indicated in 2020 that a fourth film remained possible but would depend on Myers having compelling creative inspiration for the project. Roach stated he was willing to work on any film Myers wished to pursue, describing the actor as "a genius." The confirmation marks the first definitive statement about Austin Powers 4 after nearly three decades since the original film's 1997 release.
