LIVERPOOL SIGN VICTOR MUNOZ FROM OSASUNA FOR £34.6M

Liverpool are set to complete the signing of winger Victor Munoz from Osasuna after triggering his 40 million euro release clause, equivalent to £34.6 million. Munoz is a member of Spain's World Cup squad. Liverpool have dispatched staff to the United States to conduct his medical examination. The deal concludes a race between the two clubs, with Newcastle having been in talks to sign the player following their sale of Anthony Gordon to Barcelona.

Munoz will become Liverpool's first signing since Andoni Iraola took the position of head coach earlier this month. Newcastle had intensified their pursuit of the winger, but Osasuna had been seeking the appropriate contractual structure for any agreement. Liverpool stepped in to meet those terms and secure the player ahead of their rivals.

The transfer represents a significant move in the January transfer window for Liverpool's attacking options. Munoz's arrival will provide Iraola with additional depth in wide positions as the club continues its campaign. The player will now complete the formalities of his medical before finalising his move to Anfield.
