KNICKS ACCEPT WHITE HOUSE INVITATION FROM TRUMP

The New York Knicks have accepted an invitation to visit the White House, according to team owner James Dolan. Dolan announced the decision during an appearance on The Craig Carton Show on Wednesday. He stated that the team still needs to finalise the details of the visit. Dolan described Trump as a personal friend whom he has known for thirty years.

The invitation comes after Trump attended Game 3 of the NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden, becoming the first sitting president to attend a Finals game. The Knicks won that series five games to one against the San Antonio Spurs, with Game 3 marking their only loss. Trump watched the game from the owner's suite behind bulletproof glass, seated next to Dolan. Knicks fans booed Trump upon his arrival and had to pass through TSA-style security screening.

No NBA team has visited Trump during either of his two terms as president, despite multiple championship-winning sides in that period. The Golden State Warriors famously declined to visit in 2017, and Stephen Curry publicly stated he did not wish to attend, after which Trump withdrew the invitation. Bench guard Jose Alvarado stated on Wednesday that he would attend the White House visit if his teammates choose to go. It remains uncertain how many players will ultimately participate in the visit.
