MAN CHARGED WITH ARSON OVER FIRE AT GOLDERS GREEN MEMORIAL WALL

WED 17 JUN 2026 CRIME

Ali Fallahi, aged 45 from Ilford, has been charged with arson following a fire at a memorial wall in Golders Green, north London. The incident occurred on 27 April, when a fire was allegedly started in a memorial cabinet adjacent to the wall. Fallahi is accused of damaging by fire a memorial cabinet belonging to Miga Rally. He is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Thursday.

The memorial wall was established by the Miga Rally community group and commemorates individuals described by the group as victims of events in Iran and those killed in the 2023 Hamas attack on the Nova music festival in Israel. The fire was quickly extinguished and did not spread to the wall itself. Counter-terrorism police investigated the incident. Miga Rally issued a statement expressing opposition to the damage to the memorial.

The prosecution of the case will proceed through the magistrates' court system. No further court dates have been confirmed beyond the scheduled Thursday appearance. The outcome of the initial hearing will determine whether the case advances to higher courts or concludes at magistrate level.
