FLOYD MAYWEATHER FACES FELONY CHARGES OVER $200,000 WATCH PURCHASE

WED 17 JUN 2026

Floyd Mayweather faces two felony charges in Las Vegas for theft and intent to defraud. The charges relate to allegations that Mayweather wrote a bad check for $200,000 to purchase a watch at Gold & Beyond, a luxury resale store in Las Vegas, in December 2024. According to Nevada court records, Mayweather lacked sufficient funds in his bank account to cover the cheque amount.

The theft charge carries a maximum penalty of 20 years imprisonment if Mayweather is found guilty, though sentences of that length for this offence are rare. Marc Cook, an attorney representing Gold & Beyond, stated that the store owner filed a complaint with Nevada authorities in February after extended attempts to resolve the matter. Cook said the store owner had allowed Mayweather considerable time to rectify the situation but received no response and no payment for the watch, which Mayweather retained for over one year. Mayweather's attorney has not commented on the charges.

Mayweather retired from professional boxing with an undefeated record of 50 wins and no losses. The boxer accumulated hundreds of millions of pounds during his professional career. However, the Internal Revenue Service has filed a $7.3 million lien against the 49-year-old over unpaid taxes.
