FRANCE REPLACES PALANTIR WITH DOMESTIC PROVIDER FOR INTELLIGENCE WORK

TUE 16 JUN 2026 EUROPE

France's government announced on Tuesday that its General Directorate for Internal Security intelligence agency would cease reliance on Palantir's data-analysis systems and transition to a domestic alternative. Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu stated that France cannot accept new strategic dependencies in the digital sphere. The decision reflects broader European concern about relying on US-controlled technologies for sensitive operations.

ChapsVision, a French company founded in 2019, will serve as the technological foundation for critical data-processing needs across multiple French public agencies. The company specialises in gathering, preparing and analysing large datasets. ChapsVision reported €200 million in revenue during 2025, substantially smaller than Palantir's $4.5 billion annual revenue. Germany's VS internal security service has also selected ChapsVision's tools, according to specialist media reporting.

Lecornu said France must build genuine autonomy and avoid dependence on foreign partners who could restrict access to artificial intelligence capabilities. Palantir stated that its contract with the DGSI remains fully operational and the company will continue supporting the French government where needed. Lecornu's office confirmed the continued Palantir arrangement was maintained to prevent capacity gaps in national security operations during the transition.
