HANNAH KLUGMAN WINS FIRST WTA TOUR MATCH AT NOTTINGHAM OPEN

TUE 16 JUN 2026 W TENNIS

Hannah Klugman claimed her first WTA Tour victory at the Nottingham Open, defeating fellow British player Harriet Dart 6-2 6-4. The 17-year-old entered the main draw as a lucky loser after Katie Boulter withdrew from the tournament. Klugman had initially lost in qualifying but seized the opportunity to compete in the draw. She will face fourth seed Marie Bouzkova in the next round.

Klugman won the Orange Bowl junior championships in Florida at 13 years old, joining a list of past winners that includes Coco Gauff and Chris Evert. She became the first British player in nearly 50 years to reach the French Open girls' final in 2025, losing to Lili Tagger. Klugman has contested two Grand Slam girls' doubles finals, at Wimbledon in 2023 and the Australian Open in 2025. She has been granted a wildcard into the Wimbledon main draw as she transitions from junior to senior competition.

During her victory over Dart, Klugman's serve proved particularly effective, recording six aces without a double fault and winning 77 per cent of first-serve points. After winning the first set convincingly, she recovered from 4-2 down in the second set to win four consecutive games. Fellow British player Alicia Dudeney, who also received a Wimbledon main-draw wildcard, lost 6-4 7-6 (7-2) to Ukraine's Dayana Yastremska at the tournament.
